Job Summary
Drive sales growth for oil, co-products, and derivatives across food, personal care, and industrial sectors by creating a pipeline, negotiating long-term contracts, and managing diverse customer portfolios. Assess market trends to develop go-to-market strategies that diversify the product portfolio while optimizing manufacturing capabilities and contract relationships. Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, handling sales, contract administration, and after-hours requests, while preparing sales forecasts and gross margin budgets for executive review. Lead cross-departmental initiatives, participate in new product development and production scheduling, and actively contribute to crisis management, recall, and food safety teams. Maintain safety compliance and professional development through conferences and training. Based in Ames, Iowa with 25% travel including weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Management or related field
- Minimum three (3) years sales experience
- Minimum three (3) years manufacturing industry experience
- Proven track record of positive sales performance
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentations and the ability to interact professionally and effectively with internal and external customers
- Ability to implement a sales plan and meet goals by monitoring progress according to plan
- Excellent management and leadership skills including mentoring and coaching of junior and other team members
- High attention to detail
- Sales data analysis
- Budget development skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, ERP systems, CRM systems, and sales contracts
- Act with integrity, candor, excellence, curiosity, honesty, and a commitment to safety
- Abide by Good Manufacturing Practices in all areas of the facility
- Valid driver's license (implied by travel requirement)
- Ability to travel minimum of 25% including some weekend travel
Desired Qualifications
- Master of Business Administration (MBA)
- Working understanding of the food safety and quality systems (HACCP, GMP, and SQF)
