Job Summary
RN Manager for the 9 North Medical-Surgical unit at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital. Oversees activities, workflow and nursing resources on a 16-bed observation unit focused on short-stay patients (24–48 hours) with rapid bed turnover. Responsible for hiring, training, directing and developing staff; ensuring regulatory/accreditation compliance; developing and implementing policies/procedures; monitoring the unit budget and expenditures. Requires leading a team to deliver high-quality patient care, with emphasis on staffing, safety, and continuous process improvement. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, RN licensure in IL/MO/OK/WI (compact states where applicable) and Basic Life Support certification; 2 years of RN experience with leadership or 1 year RN + 1 year leadership. Prefer demonstrated leadership in a hospital nursing environment and ability to manage on a 16-bed unit with an emphasis on rapid turnover and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- Two years' registered nurse experience, with demonstrated progressive leadership responsibility OR one year of registered nurse experience plus one year of leadership experience
- State licensure: Illinois RN, BLS HCP; Missouri RN; Oklahoma RN (compact state); Wisconsin RN (compact state)
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - AHA
