Job Summary

Define objectives, develop strategies, and manage resources to achieve engineering goals through effective interaction with management and customers. Establish expectations to maintain high engineering discipline standards and quality while managing commitments via schedules and tracking systems for on-time delivery. Provide leadership and direction to resolve technical and personnel issues, applying sophisticated radiological engineering principles for complex facilities and projects. Serve as a subject matter expert for radiation protection procedures, performing complex assessments, calculations, and monitoring to determine proper controls and shielding. Conduct peer reviews of tests and calculations, then provide briefings, presentations, and reports to internal and external stakeholders. Function as a lead or SME within task teams and project design teams, representing the company in technical exchanges with DOE sites and commercial industries. Develop and maintain technical procedures ensuring adequate radiation protection for personnel in radiological environments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering, health physics or applicable science or engineering discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Relevant professional experience
  • Master's degree in nuclear engineering, health physics or applicable science or engineering discipline from an accredited college or university

Desired Qualifications

  • Master of Science degree in nuclear engineering, health physics or related engineering or scientific discipline
  • Thorough knowledge of health physics concepts, principles, and techniques
  • General knowledge of related disciplines
  • Working knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations, DOE Orders, and ANSI standards that provide guidance and requirements for radiation protection programs
  • Ability to work with MCNP, SCALE, Origen ARP, MicroShield, and HOTSPOT codes
  • Demonstrated ability and/or experience in leadership
  • Previous or current experience at the Savannah River Site
