Job Summary
Lead the plant's Quality Assurance initiatives by implementing the Quality Management System, managing the Food Safety Quality System, and preparing for all company and ISO audits. Ensure compliance with mandated quality checks, testing, and sanitation activities while tracking and analyzing customer complaint issues. Serve as the primary liaison with the Customer Service Center, Consumer Affairs, and external regulatory agencies like the CFIA and EPA. Manage the QA Department budget, purchasing, and inventory of operating supplies, while monitoring staff performance and driving continuous improvement against quality measures. Provide day-to-day leadership to the QA team and act as the primary contact for Corporate QA and outside laboratories. May represent the plant for regional quality forums and provide after-hours support for critical issues.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in chemistry, microbiology or related field
- 10 or more years of QA experience
- 5 or more years of QA management experience within consumer products, specifically beverage, food or other clean manufacturing
- Prior microbiology laboratory management experience
- manufacturing line inspection experience
- Knowledge of ISO requirements and audits
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control, HACCP, sanitation, and hygienic design
- Strong project management and computer skills, including Word, Excel, Access, & PowerPoint
- ERP system and Quality system experience
- SAP experience
- Infinity experience
- Proven leadership skills, coaching and developing leaders & employees
- Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement and manage to/achieve metrics
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with frontline employees, peers, and executives
- Ability to drive positive change in both processes and systems and culture
- Strong internal and external customer focus with great follow-up
- Ability to provide after-hours support to a 24/7 operation for critical issues
- Self-directed with high integrity and the maturity commensurate with being an effective manager
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Candidates must possess strong English language skills
- Proficiency in English
Desired Qualifications
