Job Summary
Manager, Production Planning is responsible for maintaining material schedules to support production control, managing material flow, and addressing shortages. You will handle direct material buying, execute supply chain strategies, and lead projects. You will mentor others, lead project teams, drive continuous improvement to enhance efficiency, streamline workflows, and collaborate with suppliers to optimize processes and strengthen partnerships. You will maintain schedules for material requirements and availability to support production control and manage the flow of materials, parts, and assemblies; compile records of material quantity, cost, and type; determine and address possible and actual material shortages; adhere to SOPs and regulatory requirements; and contribute to ongoing compliance and process improvements. WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON includes a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, English proficiency, 5 years of relevant experience, and skills in ERP/MRP, SAP, data analysis, advanced Excel, and supply chain knowledge. The role emphasizes direct material buying, long-term supply chain strategies, project management, and collaboration with suppliers, with an onsite location in Irvine, CA.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+2 yrs; PhD+0 yrs)
- 5 Years of Relevant Experience
- Ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
- ERP/MRP Systems Experience
- SAP proficiency
- GxP compliance with SOPs
