Job Summary
Lead the manufacturing department by developing annual operating plans, planning capital and expense budgets, and driving continuous improvement through Kaizen and lean manufacturing principles. Supervise group leaders, team leaders, and technicians while administering company policies fairly and facilitating communication for problem resolution. Identify training needs, maintain efficiency through human resource planning, and ensure accountability for quality, delivery, cost, and safety objectives. Requires a B.S. in Engineering and six years of mass-production manufacturing experience, with ability to work overtime and travel 10-20% of the time.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Engineering
- 6 or more years experience in mass-production manufacturing
- Supervisory knowledge in a manufacturing environment
- General understanding of highly sophisticated equipment and software
- General understanding of mechanical blueprints and electrical diagrams
- Understanding of quality assurance system
- General understanding of cutting tools and material (machining)
- General understanding of production control in mass-production manufacturing
- Solid problem solving skills using a variety of statistical and root cause tools
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience with lean production concepts and tools
- Ability to work overtime
- Ability to work weekends
- Ability to deal with stress and emergency situations
- Ability to train others
- Highly motivated and high energy level
- Travel by automobile and plane required approximately 10-20% of time
Desired Qualifications
- Supervisory experience for 3 years or more preferred
