Manager, Pre-Production & Fabric Development

Job Summary

Lead research and development of new fabrics for Lovesac collections by monitoring industry trends, attending fabric fairs, and visiting mills to inform seasonal designs. Partner with design, sourcing, and quality teams to align fabric development with product vision, timelines, and cost targets while negotiating pricing and supplier relationships. Conduct and review fabric testing to ensure performance standards, manage development budgets, and integrate eco-friendly options through sustainability collaboration. Ensure pre-production planning aligns with the product-to-market calendar, maintain accurate fabric archives, and mentor team members on development processes. Resolve fabric-related issues proactively and stay current on industry regulations. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or Textile Science, 3–5+ years of fabric R&D experience, and the ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Textile Science, or a related field
  • 3–5+ years of experience in fabric R&D, preferably in the retail, fashion or home industry
  • Strong understanding of fabric properties, production processes, and sourcing strategies
  • Proven ability to develop and commercialize new fabric concepts
  • Excellent communication, project management, and cross functional collaboration skills
  • Experience with fabric constructions, dye techniques, finishes, and product manufacturing/sourcing processes
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, matrix environment with attention to detail and tight deadlines
  • Must be able to travel using various forms of transportation, as required by the Company in its sole discretion, for mandatory meetings and conferences held either at our offices or offsite
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally, as needed to visit vendors, suppliers, and partners
