Manager, Power Conversion Engineering

Job Summary

Own end-to-end delivery of the power conversion system for Ember Mini, Forge's subscale non-nuclear prototype, and scale this ownership to full-scale nuclear operations for Ember. Manage the program scope, schedule, budget, staffing, and risk while driving conceptual design, architecture trades, and first-order sizing. Develop design requirements, perform first-principles analysis to optimize development speed and cost, and execute development, acceptance, and qualification testing. Partner with vendors to procure key systems and collaborate with production teams to ensure high-rate manufacturing and deployment. Recruit, develop, train, and retain world-class leaders and individual contributors. This role reports directly to the CEO/Chef Engineer and is based in the South Bay area of Los Angeles County, requiring relocation and extended hours as necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of engineering experience designing, analyzing, or building mechanical hardware
  • 3+ years of direct leadership experience leading engineers
  • Position will be based in the South Bay area of Los Angeles County and will require relocation if not already local
  • The position will be full-time in the office
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary
  • Ability to travel to suppliers and reactor construction sites in other states as necessary
  • This position involves access to technology that is subject to U.S. export controls. Any job offer made will be contingent upon the applicant's capacity to serve in compliance with U.S. export controls
