Job Summary
Ensure internal controls prevent fraud and produce timely, accurate payroll output while supervising staff on retirement benefit processes. Oversee bi-weekly employee and monthly retiree payroll submissions, including ACH funding and pension calculation approvals. Maintain strict compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for tax withholdings and reporting. Act as the internal expert for RCOC's time entry software and ADP configuration, troubleshooting systems and implementing new processes. Contribute to agency payroll policies and collaborate with Finance and IT divisions to improve system functionality. Perform duties in a professional manner to represent the Road Commission for Oakland County. Requires a daily schedule supporting RCOC hours with regular on-site attendance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Accounting, Finance or Business
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in accounting and payroll
- Must possess and maintain a valid State of Michigan Driver's License
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
- Requires a daily schedule that supports RCOC hours of operation
- Regular and predictable on-site job attendance
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now software
- A minimum of three (3) years of management experience
