Job Summary
Oversee day-to-day payroll operations, ensuring accurate, timely bi-weekly processing and full compliance with federal and provincial legislative requirements. Lead payroll Advisors, manage workload allocation, and coach on performance while serving as the primary liaison with Finance, auditors, and vendors. Reconcile payroll funding, balance the general ledger monthly, and conduct annual vacation and pension reconciliations. Drive year-end processes including T4s, Relevés, and 1099s, maintain payroll systems through testing and optimization, and manage all tax, EHT, WCB, and CRA audits. Ensure strict adherence to statutory requirements across Canada while keeping abreast of legislative changes.
Required Qualifications
- Postsecondary education in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
- Active professional payroll certification such as PCP (Payroll Compliance Professional) or PLP (Payroll Leadership Professional)
- Minimum 5 years of leading in-house payroll in Canada with 2 years of supervisory experience
- Expert knowledge in Canadian payroll legislation
- Experience in dealing with CRA and auditors
- Strong technical aptitude in Payroll/HRIS systems, with a proven ability to optimize payroll workflows
- Strong knowledge of payroll and tax accounting
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with UKG Pro is highly desirable
