Job Summary
Lead an Outside Plant (OSP) Engineering team, managing both internal staff and vendors to ensure projects meet quality standards, timelines, and budgets. Oversee engineering work orders, production, and compliance with NESC, municipal requirements, and utility easements while verifying contractor invoices and processing payments. Identify permitting authorities, execute project schedules with contractors and stakeholders, and coordinate with municipalities and government agencies. Manage capital budgets, release work orders to Construction, and maintain accurate engineering documentation through project completion.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of eight (8) years of outside plant (OSP) experience, including quoting, permitting and other pre-construction activities
- Developed leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and lead others
- Experience using fiber optic network documentation tools
- Advanced understanding of the permitting process for railroad, DOT, cities, counties, and pole owners
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, auto insurance, and satisfactory driving record
- Must complete a pre-employment drug screening
- Experience managing capital budgets
- Must be currently authorized to work in the US for any employer
- Must be able to bend, stooping, sitting, walking, or standing for prolonged periods of time
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Must maintain a professional manner and appearance
- Ability to travel occasionally overnight
- Must be able to hold outside employment or self-employed only with written approval from Ziply Fiber
Desired Qualifications
- Must have computer competency including proficiency with Microsoft Suite and understanding of database programs
- Ability to type minimum of 40 WPM
- Ability to consistently deliver outstanding customer service to all internal and external customers
- Ability to work independently and apply sound judgment and reasoning skills to a variety of situations
- Ability to multi-task and collaborate effectively with other personnel to meet deadlines
- Ability to adjust to rapidly changing priorities
- Strong verbal and written communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively with a diverse range of individuals, teams, managers, supervisors, and external customers, as well cohesively across departments
