Job Summary
Oversee the planning and implementation of all clinical functions while providing guidance and supervision to develop an environment conducive to efficient, high-quality eye care. Act as the primary interface between technicians, physicians, fellows, and patients to disseminate policy changes and address patient concerns. Interview and select new staff, ensuring they receive training, development, and empowerment to perform effectively. Manage formal disciplinary processes, evaluate performance improvement plans, and establish protocols for patient confidentiality and internal controls. Develop strategic goals, revise standard operating procedures, and continuously assess unit compliance with University policies. Establish and assess the effectiveness of an educational program for ophthalmic technicians.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or above
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of business and management principles
- Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations
- Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan
- Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others
- Ability to lead, motivate, develop and train others
