Job Summary
Oversee daily operations across pickup and delivery, dock operations, linehaul, and administrative functions to ensure execution aligns with profitability targets and service standards. Monitor key financial drivers including labor expenses and revenue components, develop performance metrics, and implement corrective actions to improve throughput and cost efficiency. Build high-performing teams by managing hiring, training, and performance evaluations while maintaining regulatory compliance, HazMat certification, and risk management protocols. Collaborate with corporate teams and external partners to resolve complex escalations and drive cross-functional alignment. Lead end-to-end service center execution with a focus on safety, accountability, and measurable results within a fast-paced, metro-to-metro logistics environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 4–5 years of operations management experience in transportation, logistics, or a related field
- Proven experience leading multi-functional operational teams in a fast-paced, service-driven environment
- Strong financial and operational acumen, including experience managing labor, revenue components, and performance metrics
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and general business systems
- AS/400 experience
- Solid understanding of transportation operations including linehaul, dock, and pickup/delivery workflows
- HazMat certification
- Forklift qualification
- Ability to obtain HazMat certification or forklift qualification
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across all levels, including corporate stakeholders and external partners
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data, interpret regulations, and apply logical problem-solving in complex situations
- Ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage multiple operational demands simultaneously
- Onsite location in Chicago, IL
