Job Summary
Oversee daily operations across pickup and delivery, dock functions, linehaul, and administrative tasks to ensure alignment with profitability targets and service standards. Monitor key financial drivers including TOCs, labor expenses, and freight manifests while developing metrics that track performance against corporate objectives. Lead hiring, training, and development for service center personnel, providing structured feedback to drive accountability and team growth. Ensure regulatory compliance by partnering with independent contractors to adhere to safety standards and government regulations, safeguarding sensitive business information. Collaborate with corporate teams and sales to resolve complex escalated issues and strengthen cross-functional alignment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 4–5 years of operations management experience in transportation, logistics, or a related field
- Proven experience leading multi-functional operational teams in a fast-paced, service-driven environment
- Strong financial and operational acumen, including experience managing labor, revenue components, and performance metrics
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and general business systems
- AS/400 experience
- Solid understanding of transportation operations including linehaul, dock, and pickup/delivery workflows
- HazMat certification and forklift qualification (or ability to obtain)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across all levels, including corporate stakeholders and external partners
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data, interpret regulations, and apply logical problem-solving in complex situations
- Experience managing confidential business information with discretion and integrity
- Ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage multiple operational demands simultaneously
- Must be available for Onsite – Chicago, IL
Desired Qualifications
- Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and general business systems; AS/400 experience preferred
