Manager of Turbine Engineering

Job Summary
Manage the Leeward Turbine Engineering team to improve plant performance and reliability by identifying issues, developing solutions, and systematically remediating faults causing downtime. Lead the Integrity Management Program, approve procedures, and deliver cost-saving projects while overseeing condition monitoring, inspections, maintenance, and repairs for GE, Mitsubishi, Siemens, Gamesa, and Vestas turbines. Prioritize tasks, delegate projects, and train team members to meet complex deadlines with minimal supervision. Provide annual budget inputs and regularly communicate progress to operations management. Requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering, 10+ years of experience, and ability to travel 25% while working onsite three days per week.
Required Qualifications
- 4-Year Bachelors Engineering Degree
- 10 or more years of relevant technical experience
- Fundamental understanding of mechanical system component design and operation
- Experience with the maintenance and repair of wind turbines including large components
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, hydraulic schematics, wiring diagrams and other common specifications
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate ideas to non-engineers
- Ability to manage a team of engineers and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and manage technical projects
- Demonstrated ability to manage priorities in a complex and dynamic environment
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and climbing at project locations to inspect and repair equipment or collect information
- Ability to climb and work in a wind turbine which includes confined spaces and working at heights
- Willingness and ability to travel at least 25%
- Demonstrated ability to operate a motor vehicle and possession of a valid driver's license
- Applicants must have current authorization to work for any employer in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for an employment visa now or in the future
