Job Summary
Manager of Specialized Instruction and Services at the elementary level will provide instructional leadership and supervision of educational programs and specialized instruction, collaborating to reduce the achievement gap for students with disabilities. Responsibilities include planning, implementing and administering special education programs; coordinating IEP-related processes (new referrals, 3-year evaluations, manifestation determinations, ESY); analyzing data to support age/grade-appropriate programs; integrating research-based instructional strategies; ensuring compliance with state/federal requirements and district procedures; developing staffing plans; assisting in hiring special education staff; providing academic support and interventions for students with disabilities and their families; planning transition services, programming for multilingual learners with disabilities; supervising, coaching and evaluating staff; and coordinating professional development for educators at the elementary level. Education and leadership qualifications emphasize a Master’s Degree in Special Education Administration or Educational Leadership and related coursework, plus elementary special education teaching experience and certificates.
Required Qualifications
- Experience as a special education teacher at the elementary level for at least 3 years
- Leadership experience preferred
- Administrator of Special Education PK-12 Certificate or Building Administrator with Special Education Teacher Certificate
- Master’s Degree in Special Education Administration and/or Educational Leadership with related Special Education coursework
