Job Summary
Manager of Software Engineering: Release Manager responsible for end-to-end release lifecycle across Card Authorizations (VTS, Tandem, Mainframe) within JPMorgan Chase’s Consumer Card Technology group. Lead governance and scheduling, coordinate cross-functional teams (Development, Testing, Infrastructure, Production Support, Business stakeholders), drive Go/No-Go decisions, mitigate release risks, track metrics (cycle time, rollback rate, defect leakage), and implement process improvements to increase release velocity and reliability. Collaborate with Test Engineering to integrate automation gates and regression results into release decisions, maintain release documentation, and communicate status to leadership. Bring formal software engineering training or certification and at least five years of hands-on release management experience in large-scale environments, with experience across distributed systems and mainframe platforms, plus strong CI/CD knowledge and experience with deployment tools.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts
- 5 years of applied Release Management experience
- Hands-on Release Management experience in large-scale, mission-critical environments
- Proven track record of managing releases across distributed systems and mainframe platforms
- Operate effectively in environments with high transaction volumes and zero-downtime expectations, employing robust rollback and disaster recovery strategies.
- Maintain a strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and release orchestration tools (e.g., Jenkins, Spinnaker, uDeploy, or equivalent).
- Lead Go/No-Go decisions by aggregating test results, defect metrics, environment readiness, and stakeholder signoffs to drive confident, data-backed release decisions.
- Communicate effectively translate technical release details into clear, concise updates for leadership and non-technical stakeholders while serving as the escalation point for release-related issues.
