Job Summary
Lead and develop the payroll team, assigning work, providing training, coaching staff, and managing performance to ensure accurate, timely processing of U.S. and Canadian payrolls for hourly and salaried members across multiple legal entities. Review and approve payroll results, including registers and tax liabilities, while maintaining effective processes, controls, and business continuity plans. Interpret collective bargaining agreements, oversee special payments like bonuses and retroactive pay, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and provincial wage and hour laws. Coordinate tax registrations in Dayforce, manage quarter-end and year-end filings, and serve as the escalation point for complex payroll questions and discrepancies. Reconcile payroll funding and deductions with Finance, maintain team member confidence, and implement practical improvements to payroll processes and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field
- Ten or more years of progressively responsible payroll experience
- At least five years of experience leading or supervising payroll employees
- Experience managing multi-jurisdictional payroll operations in both the United States and Canada
- Experience supporting hourly and salaried team members in a multi-site environment
- Experience administering payroll for union-represented employees
- Experience interpreting collective bargaining agreements
Desired Qualifications
- Manufacturing payroll experience
- Dayforce Payroll and Workforce Management experience
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP), or equivalent payroll credential
