Job Summary
Manager of Land Survey leads land survey projects from kickoff to closeout, mentors field staff, and coordinates client communications. Responsibilities include producing survey-related projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D, overseeing field crews, preparing calculations and project prep for field crews, scheduling field work, implementing survey field standards and QC, recommending equipment purchases, checking field work for completeness and accuracy, providing on-site supervision, assisting with recruiting and evaluating new hires, and maintaining ongoing communication with Leadership and Project Managers. Requires 5-10 years in land development and licensure as a Professional Land Surveyor in Illinois (or ability to obtain within 1 year); strong knowledge of survey procedures and equipment (Trimble a plus); proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D; leadership and time-management skills. Salary range $80,000-$120,000.
Required Qualifications
- 5-10 years relevant experience in land development (commercial, industrial, single-family, etc.) and municipal development projects preferred
- Must possess the Professional Land Surveyor licensure in Illinois or ability to obtain within 1 year
- Advanced knowledge of survey field procedures
- Advanced knowledge of survey equipment and software (Trimble a plus)
- Ability to evaluate field data and perform survey calculations in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Ability to oversee and manage a project team of field survey staff
- Verbal skills and organizational ability to communicate with project managers and staff
- Time management skills
Desired Qualifications
- 5-10 years relevant experience in land development (commercial, industrial, single-family, etc.) and municipal development projects preferred
- Candidates with less direct experience may be considered if they possess other relevant or transferable experience
- Must possess the Professional Land Surveyor licensure in Illinois or ability to obtain within 1 year
