Job Summary
Lead a high-performing accounting team in overseeing insurance financial operations, ensuring GAAP compliance and strategic alignment with organizational goals. Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, manage general ledger entries, and track accruals for accurate year-end closing. Collaborate with FP&A and business lines to optimize budgeting, forecast trends, and provide root-cause analysis for variances. Resolve accounting discrepancies, implement internal controls, and propose process improvements to enhance efficiency. Manage vendor relationships and disseminate industry insights to foster a culture of continuous learning. Requires CPA, 7+ years of accounting experience, and leadership of a team of accountants.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's in accounting
- CPA
- 7+ years of accounting experience
- 5+ years of experience preparing financial statements
- 4+ years of accounting experience supporting an insurance business
- 3+ years of experience developing and implementing internal procedures and controls
- 1-3 years of direct leadership
- Advanced familiarity with the Microsoft Office platform of products, particularly Excel
- Excellent mathematical skills, analytical skills and reasoning ability
- Ability to learn new financial systems and make recommendations to improve accounting processes and procedures
- Ability to develop various models to analyze the cost / benefit of entering into a new business venture
- Demonstrated customer service attitude
- Drive and persistence to handle technical accounting issues in a fast-paced/deadline-oriented environment
