Job Summary
Manager of Facilities at Vanier Children’s Mental Wellness leads the facilities portfolio, overseeing building operations, including maintenance, repairs, alterations, grounds management, heating and cooling systems, and waste management. Responsible for day-to-day management of facilities and food services operations, supervising unionized maintenance, cleaning, and food services staff, ensuring safety and adherence to organizational standards. Develops and implements a facilities management plan aligned with the organization’s strategic plan, fosters a customer-service culture, manages relationships with contractors and vendors, monitors workplans and major repairs, ensures regulatory compliance, and supports growth and development of staff. Requires a degree or diploma in engineering technology or building operations, 10+ years in operations/maintenance management in relevant settings, budget experience, procurement/process knowledge, strong supervisory experience in a unionized environment, and excellent communication and problem-solving abilities. Required Qualifications
- Degree or diploma program in engineering technology or building operations
- At least 10 years’ experience in operations/maintenance management in a commercial, industrial or healthcare setting
- Experience managing budgets and expenditures
- Experience working with outside contractors and vendors following internal procurement and other relevant policies and procedures
- Strong supervisory skills in a unionized setting with over 10 years’ experience leading and managing technical staff
- Knowledge of applicable regulations and legislation (Building Codes, OHSA, Fire codes)
- Computer literacy with Microsoft Office 360 (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Good judgement and problem-solving abilities
