Job Summary
Lead a high-performing team of data engineers, business intelligence analysts, and governance professionals to deliver enterprise data services across the University of Maine System. Guide the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of data engineering and analytics platforms while overseeing pipelines, integration services, and governance practices. Partner with academic and administrative leaders to translate business needs into scalable solutions, collaborating with Enterprise Architecture and Information Security to advance technology initiatives. Promote modern engineering practices and operational excellence to improve platform reliability and scalability. This fully remote role supports student success and strategic decision-making for over 30,000 individuals across Maine's public universities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field
- Seven years of progressively responsible professional experience supporting or managing enterprise data engineering, analytics platforms, or enterprise data services
- Master's degree in a related field
- Five years of progressively responsible professional experience supporting or managing enterprise data engineering, analytics platforms, or enterprise data services
- Experience supervising technical staff or serving in a formal technical leadership role
- Experience overseeing enterprise data pipeline and ETL/ELT processes
- Experience overseeing cloud-based platforms and evaluating performance, reliability, and cost optimization
- U.S. work authorization that does not require employer sponsorship now or in the future
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience leading technical teams in a complex enterprise environment
- Experience supporting enterprise data engineering, analytics, or business intelligence services
- Knowledge of modern data architecture, data integration, and enterprise data management
- Strong project management, organizational, and stakeholder engagement skills
- A passion for mentoring others and building collaborative, service-oriented teams
- Experience with enterprise integration technologies, Agile development practices, and enterprise administrative systems such as PeopleSoft
