Job Summary
Manager of Community and Government Affairs leading external communications for the site and building strong relationships with media, government officials, and civic leaders. Responsibilities include developing strategic communication plans, producing content for external channels (press releases, social media, website), overseeing sponsorships and charitable giving, managing external events, and serving as a site spokesperson (including with emergency management teams). Collaborates with government affairs for alignment, maintains relationships with non-profits, represents the client in civic and trade associations, and oversees PR firms to support communications strategies. Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5+ years in external communications, with preference for chemical/petrochemical industry experience; APR is a plus. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Political Science, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in external communications, preferably in the chemical/petrochemical industry
- Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing community and government affairs communication plans
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships
- Experience in a matrix environment and working within an operational/manufacturing setting (preferred)
- Public Relations accreditation (APR) a plus
