Job Summary
Manager, Mechanical Services responsible for the operational management of mechanical services across campus, overseeing maintenance programs for reliability, safety, and performance; leads the Supervisor, Mechanical Services and technical staff; ensures preventative and corrective maintenance aligns with standards and safety requirements; coordinates maintenance priorities, asset renewal, and infrastructure project delivery; provides strategic input on lifecycle planning, asset management, and maintenance standards; requires strong leadership, planning, budgeting, and stakeholder collaboration to support campus facilities operations; emphasizes safety compliance and integration with other Facilities units.
Required Qualifications
- College diploma in engineering technology, building systems, construction management, facilities management, or a related discipline, or a Certificate of Apprenticeship and Certificate of Qualification in a relevant trade, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in facilities operations or infrastructure management
- Demonstrated experience managing mechanical teams
- Experience working in a unionized environment preferred
- Knowledge of mechanical building systems, infrastructure operations, and maintenance practices
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and prioritize maintenance activities across multiple facilities
- Ability to manage financial resources including monitoring expenditures
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, codes, and standards governing facilities operations, mechanical systems, and occupational health and safety
- Familiarity with facilities maintenance systems and asset management practices
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and respond to operational issues in a complex institutional environment
