Job Summary
Own the day-to-day technical execution of the mechanical engineering team by managing the engineering queue, assigning projects based on expertise and schedule priorities, and surfacing risks proactively. Directly lead a group of design engineers through regular 1-on-1s, performance reviews, and growth conversations while providing expert technical guidance and mentorship. Serve as a technical reviewer for deliverables including specification sheets, bills of materials, structural analysis, and assembly instructions. Independently execute advanced individual contributor work, such as complex 3D modeling for modular buildings and power distribution equipment, and lead Engineering Change Orders for product release. Ensure all designs comply with regulatory requirements and codes while partnering with manufacturing to drive design for manufacturability and cost reduction.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical design
- Proven success in a supervisory or management role for at least 1-2 years leading engineering teams
- Expert proficiency with 3D modeling software, specifically SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM
- deep knowledge of metals, fabrication materials, and manufacturing methods
- Proven track record of solving complex engineering problems utilizing a first-principles approach to design and analysis
- Proficient knowledge of a wide range of building codes, energy codes, and UL listings applicable to engineered infrastructure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts across cross-functional teams
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs

Desired Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related post-graduate discipline
- Experience serving as a SolidWorks PDM Vault Administrator
- Experience with advanced simulation and analysis software (e.g., FEA/FDM)
- Lean or continuous improvement experience applied to an engineering design workflow
