Job Summary
We are seeking a Materials Engineering Manager to lead a diverse engineering team across sites in Jacksonville, FL; Anasco, Puerto Rico; and Groningen, Netherlands. The role drives base business growth, new product delivery, supplier-enabled innovation, sustainability, and cost improvements, with a focus on standardizing processes and applying materials engineering knowledge to deliver innovative solutions at internal and external supplier sites. Responsibilities include mentoring and developing engineers, solving complex technical problems with methodical, statistically sound approaches, tracking timelines and costs, collaborating with Make Engineering, Operations, Quality, R&D, Procurement, Regulatory Affairs, and suppliers, and championing continuous improvement while aligning with environmental policies. The role emphasizes talent development, cross-functional coordination, and delivering measurable business results through technically sound strategies and scale-up activities. This position requires onsite work in Jacksonville, FL, and up to 25% travel, with international collaboration and potential for Spanish language skills as a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or equivalent is required
- Advanced degree such as MS, PhD, or MBA is preferred
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience leading and developing engineers and technicians
- Strong technical understanding of injection molding, polymer materials, and mold fabrication
- Strong knowledge of structured problem solving and statistically sound approaches
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Make Engineering, Operations, Quality, R&D, Procurement, Regulatory Affairs, and other partners
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to influence across the organization
- Preferred: 6 years in a medical device or FDA-regulated environment
- Preferred: fluency in Spanish
- Experience supporting external supplier manufacturing sites through feasibility, scale-up, and technical problem solving
- Ability to travel up to 25%
- Onsite in Jacksonville, FL 5 days/week
