Job Summary
Led by a Manufacturing Production Manager, this role oversees the on-site Grayling, MI manufacturing operations, directing the production team from receipt of components through shipment of final product. Responsible for technical production work in assembly, installation, and testing, plus manufacturing development, implementing best practices, and qualifying new products per Saab/customer requirements. Acts as a cross-functional integrator between manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, facilities, safety, and quality. Drives continuous improvement, ensures high-quality, on-time delivery, and optimizes safety, cost, and performance. Develops and revises SOPs/Work Instructions, forecasts resource needs, defines KPIs, and applies Lean tools (Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Standard Work, 6S, Kanban, Visual Management, RCA). Requires U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain Secret security clearance; travel up to ~10% may be required. Compensation range provided: $132,000 - $171,600.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field required
- Master’s degree in business, engineering, or related discipline is preferred
- A strong candidate typically brings 7+ years of progressive leadership experience within manufacturing or operations
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in munitions manufacturing/assembly, ammunition production or energetics
- Demonstrated ability to develop, revise, and implement Manufacturing SOPs and Work Instructions
- Forecast and manage resource requirements (labor, capital, equipment, and materials)
- Define, implement, and monitor KPIs tied to safety, quality, delivery, cost (SQDC)
- Strong background implementing Lean tools (Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Standard Work, 6S, Visual Management, Kanban, Root Cause Corrective Action)
- Strong problem-solving capability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to travel up to 10% in support of program execution, customer engagements, and business development activities
- Working experience in a matrix organization
- Capable of obtaining a Secret-level security clearance
- Must be a U.S. citizen
