Job Summary
Run day-to-day financial operations for clients, including general ledger, payables, receivables, payroll, collections, and financial reporting. Monitor team usage of internal procedures and controls while managing onshore and offshore staff performing transactional and technical accounting activities. Assist in preparing financial statements, budgets, and forecasts, and manage journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly/annual closing processes. Convert customers to new accounting systems, perform book cleanup, and advise on technical accounting decisions. Review accounting information to resolve inaccuracies and develop models for client requests. Encourage operational improvements through stakeholder input and manage communications with vendors, customers, partners, and banks. This role supports Citrin Cooperman's Advisory Department, leveraging expertise in GAAP, multiple ERP systems, and data analysis to drive efficiency and compliance across diverse industries.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or other similar position
- Experience in several different industries - professional services, manufacturing, construction, and healthcare
- Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes and of the structure necessary to run them efficiently and effectively (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.)
- Knowledge and experience of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Understanding of data analysis and forecasting
- Experience with multiple accounting systems which could include Quickbooks, Xero, Dynamics, NetSuite, Intacct, and other middle-market accounting and ERP packages
- Expert in Excel
- Well-organized with ability to prioritize
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a relevant field is preferred
- Experience participating in an ERP implementation is a plus
- Professional certification (e.g. CPA) is a plus
