Job Summary
Run day-to-day financial operations for clients, managing general ledgers, payables, receivables, payroll, collections, and financial reporting. Monitor internal procedures and controls while overseeing onshore and offshore staff executing transactional, technical accounting, and data synthesis activities. Lead journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly/annual closing processes, assisting with budget preparation, forecasts, and system conversions. Advise on technical accounting decisions and resolve inaccuracies in accounting information. This role supports Citrin Cooperman's Advisory Department, leveraging expertise in GAAP, ERP implementations, and middle-market accounting systems to drive operational improvements and client success.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or other similar position
- Experience in several different industries - professional services, manufacturing, construction, and healthcare
- Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes and of the structure necessary to run them efficiently and effectively (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.)
- Knowledge and experience of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Understanding of data analysis and forecasting
- Experience with multiple accounting systems which could include Quickbooks, Xero, Dynamics, NetSuite, Intacct, and other middle-market accounting and ERP packages
- Expert in Excel
- Well-organized with ability to prioritize
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a relevant field is preferred
- Experience participating in an ERP implementation is a plus
- Professional certification (e.g. CPA) is a plus
