Job Summary
Supervise and monitor the efficiency of general clinical laboratory and pathology operations under the Director of Laboratory Services. Manage staff through orientation, in-service training, motivation, performance evaluation, and daily operational planning. Organize duties and responsibilities for all clinical testing, including point-of-care, quality management, workflow processes, and equipment maintenance. Evaluate turnaround times, review proficiency testing, and maintain inter-hospital relationships. Solve problems and handle projects assigned by leadership while serving patients of all ages. Requires a current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license, six years of supervisory experience, and strong organizational skills.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college of university
- A valid and current Clinical Laboratory Scientist license issued by the State of California Department of Health Services
- Must be able to converse well in English because of physician, nurse, and patient contact
- Have good manual dexterity
- Work well in times of stress
- Have excellent organizational skills
- Have excellent people skills
- Have computer / LIS skills
Desired Qualifications
- A master's degree is a plus but not required
- At least 6 years of experience as a lead/supervisor CLS preferred
- ASCP certification is preferred, but not required
