Job Summary
Lead administrative leadership and operational oversight of the Phlebotomy team while supporting the development and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System. Manage all aspects of testing operations, including technical oversight, troubleshooting, and ensuring adherence to quality control requirements for timely result reporting. Supervise staff regarding personnel issues, evaluations, scheduling, and training, while developing departmental goals aligned with system strategic priorities. Coordinate on-site regulatory inspections with CAP, AABB, and The Joint Commission, and maintain accreditation standards. Lead daily huddles, monthly team meetings, and Lean process improvement projects to drive operational efficiency and patient safety. Reporting to the Senior Director of Laboratory Services and Medical Director, this role serves as the central resource for laboratory quality and operational standardization across the Baystate Health system.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science CLS (ASCP) or equivalent
- Must have 3+ years of management experience in a clinical laboratory
- Must have demonstrated knowledge of Laboratory science
- Must have documented leadership, management, team building, teaching and mentoring skills
- Must have demonstrated knowledge of Laboratory Quality Management/Improvement concepts and documented experience in their application
- Must have demonstrated knowledge of Lean-Six Sigma concepts
- High level of management, collaborative and team building skills and experience required
- High-level ability to mentor and teach high level of analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent knowledge of Laboratory Quality Management/Improvement concepts and documented experience in their application
