Job Summary
Develop and lead a comprehensive internal communications strategy, including an annual plan aligned with organizational priorities and change initiatives. Create executive communications for senior leaders and advise on clear, transparent messaging that supports the 2026–2031 Strategic Plan. Manage employee engagement initiatives, champion storytelling, and coordinate town halls while establishing two-way feedback channels. Develop volunteer communications to support recruitment, onboarding, and recognition, ensuring timely access to organizational updates. Lead client and family communications to enhance the experience and build trust through culturally responsive content. Measure impact using evidence-based KPIs and prepare reports for senior leadership and the Board.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressively responsible communications experience, including internal, employee, or people-centred communications, preferably within a healthcare or broader public-sector environment
- Proven experience developing and implementing internal communications strategies that drive employee engagement and support business objectives
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex healthcare, policy, and organizational information into clear, accessible, and compelling communications
- Experience supporting executive leaders with speeches, presentations, key messages, and engagement activities
- Candidates must demonstrate a clear commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and know how to apply these principles to organizational narratives
- Knowledge of brand management principles and experience ensuring adherence to brand standards and organizational messaging
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and achieve results in a dynamic environment
- Full vaccination against COVID-19 is mandatory for this position
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with strong editing, proofreading, storytelling, and content development abilities for diverse audiences and channels
- Strong strategic thinking, critical analysis, and problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrated ability to influence, build trusted relationships, and navigate complex organizational environments
- Excellent facilitation, negotiation, networking, and partnership-building skills
- Strong project management skills with the ability to lead multiple strategic initiatives and deliver results on time
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively
- Ability to work collaboratively, exercise sound judgement, and thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Strong knowledge of employee engagement, organizational communications, and change management best practices
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of the Ontario healthcare system, community health services, and relevant government structures is considered an asset
