Job Summary

Lead the negotiation, drafting, and execution of complex commercial agreements, including transformational, consortial, licensing, and publishing services contracts. Advise Sales, Legal, Finance, and compliance stakeholders on contract strategy, risk assessment, and negotiation approaches to support revenue growth and risk mitigation. Develop and implement contracting standards, playbooks, templates, and guidance materials to promote consistency and best practices across business lines. Drive operational excellence by improving workflows, optimizing contract lifecycle management, and implementing AI-enabled contracting solutions to reduce cycle times and enhance quality. Partner with cross-functional teams to advance the Contracting Center of Excellence and support new business models and acquisitions. Requires 7+ years of experience negotiating high-value agreements with institutional and enterprise customers. Salary range: 40,200.00 GBP to 57,533.33 GBP.

Required Qualifications

  • 7 years of experience negotiating and managing complex commercial contracts
  • Advanced-level contract drafting, contract review, and contract negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating high-value and complex agreements with institutional, enterprise, government, nonprofit, research, publishing, or technology customers in multicultural environments
  • Experience supporting contract operations, process improvement, workflow optimization, or contract lifecycle management initiatives
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of contract lifecycle management (CLM) systems, workflow automation tools, and contracting technologies

Desired Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience negotiating complex commercial contracts
  • Experience negotiating transformational agreements, read-and-publish agreements, consortial agreements, open access publishing agreements, licensing agreements, or other strategic research-sector contracts
  • Experience leading contract operations, legal operations, center of excellence, process optimization, or digital transformation initiatives
  • Experience implementing AI, workflow automation, knowledge management, or contract intelligence solutions
  • Experience supporting multiple business units within a matrixed global organization
  • Advanced degree in Business, Law, Public Administration, or a related discipline
