Job Summary
Manager-in-Training (M.I.T.) at VIP Automotive in Portland, ME, reporting to the District/Market Manager. The role focuses on learning VIP’s management processes to lead a team, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, deliver exceptional customer experiences, and execute VIP standards. Core duties include hiring and developing a high-performing team, ensuring LMS and vendor trainings are completed, verifying ASE certifications (including C1, P2, G1 as indicated), coordinating scheduling across all hours of operation, driving effective communication through daily huddles and store meetings, coaching, dispatching work orders to technicians using first-available logic, attending off-site trainings, maintaining facility and equipment standards, ensuring compliance with the service code of ethics and applicable regulations, and performing additional responsibilities as needed. The standard work week requires five days and a minimum of 50 hours per week. The role emphasizes leadership, safety, training, customer satisfaction, and adherence to automotive-service industry standards.
Required Qualifications
- Two years related experience in automotive service management
- Completion of two-year college or technical school program recommended
- Current, valid driver’s license issued in state of residence
- Equipment Safety Certification
- ASE Certification C1– Service Consultant required
- ASE Certification P2 – Parts Specialist recommended
- ASE Certification G1 – Maintenance and light repair recommended
- State Inspection License Required (where applicable)
