Job Summary
Manager-in-Training (M.I.T.) at VIP in Skowhegan, ME leads a team to deliver exceptional customer experiences while learning VIP’s management processes and ensuring safe operations. Responsibilities include hiring and developing a superior team, ensuring LMS and vendor trainings are completed, coordinating scheduling and daily communications, guiding service-velocity with the 5 for 5 process, dispatching work orders to technicians, and participating in off-site trainings. The role emphasizes adherence to the service Code of Ethics, compliance with municipal, state, and federal regulations, and facility/equipment maintenance. Requires strong leadership, automotive service knowledge, relevant ASE certifications (C1 required; P2 and G1 recommended), a valid driver’s license, and state inspection licensing where applicable. Must be prepared to manage standard 50-hour work weeks across a 5-day schedule and participate in ongoing training to progress toward a management position.
Required Qualifications
- Two years related experience in automotive service management
- Completion of two-year college or technical school program recommended
- Current, valid driver’s license issued in state of residence
- Equipment Safety Certification
- ASE Certification C1 – Service Consultant required
- ASE Certification P2 – Parts Specialist recommended
- ASE Certification G1 – Maintenance and light repair recommended
- State Inspection License Required (where applicable)
- Ability to effectively hire and develop associates
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Knowledge of safety policies and procedures
