Job Summary
Manager in Training (MIT) participating in a structured program to develop comprehensive knowledge of Sonic restaurant operations, including finance, staff management, and customer service, under the guidance of a General Manager. Hands-on experience to prepare for advancement to the General Manager role. Key responsibilities include assisting the general manager with daily operations, overseeing store activities, scheduling, payroll interpretation, expense control, and revenue tracking; learning to interpret P&L statements; using metrics to evaluate drive-in performance; assisting with recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, and developing team members; enforcing labor laws and upholding food safety standards; creating a positive work environment; and supporting a community outreach program to grow sales for the Drive-In and the brand. Qualifications emphasize strong communication, math, and analytical abilities, leadership under pressure, prioritization, and flexibility to work ~50 hours weekly with possible weekend/holiday/closing shifts; 2-3 years of general management experience in food service or hospitality; associate degree preferred; ServSafe certification; willingness to relocate within 45 miles of home base.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2-3 years of general management experience in food service or hospitality
- Associate degree in business or related field preferred
- Willingness to relocate to available store openings upon successful completion of training within a minimum of a 45-mile radius from home base
- Current certifications (e.g., ServSafe)
- Available approximately 50 hours per week; able to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and closing shifts as needed
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Must have the ability/stamina to work a minimum of 50 hours a week
