Job Summary
Lead human resources across multiple coal mining operations in Southern West Virginia by serving as a strategic business partner to the VP of Operations and mine managers. Maintain a regular physical presence at the Beckley and Itmann complexes to support site leadership, align workforce strategies, and provide metrics on turnover and staffing. Execute employee relations programs to resolve grievances, conduct investigations, and analyze exit interview data. Develop regional recruiting strategies to source skilled miners and engineers while managing partnerships with local colleges. Coach site leadership on performance management, progressive discipline, and documentation. Ensure full compliance with federal, state employment laws, and MSHA safety regulations. Requires a Bachelor's degree, five years of HR experience, and a valid driver's license. Salary compensation applies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience
- Thorough understanding of federal and state employment laws
- Functional awareness of MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) compliance and safety-critical environments
- Excellent people skills with the ability to build trust with all employees, including executive leadership
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to travel frequently between assigned mine sites
- Flexibility to support multiple shifts
- Ability to respond to urgent site needs
- Ability to maintain a consistent field presence across operations
