Job Summary
Supervise the day-to-day team operations for the medical underwriting team, managing evaluation of individual employee requirements and risk selection on group accounts including new applicants and benefit change requests. Evaluate risks to determine approval or rejection on complex cases and second signoffs while administering underwriting rules, guidelines, and application quality audits. Provide training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, and ensure Quality Assurance recommendations are incorporated into employee development and performance measurement. Forge strong professional relationships with distribution and project management partners while carrying out duties in compliance with all state and federal regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Medical Underwriting expertise
- 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's)
- 5+ Years of risk management experience with substantial background in medical underwriting group coverages including 2+ years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience
