Job Summary
The Grocery Manager will coach, motivate, and develop department staff to drive customer loyalty and engagement, manage department budgets and labor costs, oversee inventory control and merchandising, ensure health and safety and regulatory compliance, and lead initiatives to enhance store performance. Responsibilities include supervising direct reports from hiring to performance management and development, communicating requirements to staff, maintaining product presentation, delivering superior customer service, maintaining financial targets and margins through sales forecasting and variance analysis, and supporting community engagement and continuous improvement efforts. Required skills include leadership, budget management, strong product knowledge, effective communication, and proficiency with Microsoft Office; minimum education is a high school diploma and at least 18 months of retail/grocery experience.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 18 months of retail store experience, grocery experience preferred
- High School Diploma
- Full knowledge of total store and department operations
- Experience reading and analyzing financial reports, and experience in developing and adhering to budgets
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Above average communication skills (oral and written)
