Job Summary
The Grocery Manager is responsible for coaching, motivating, and developing department staff to foster customer loyalty, fulfill customer needs and actively contribute to an environment of employee and customer engagement. They are fiscally responsible for the operation of the department and will manage budgets, labour costs, inventory control, product presentation and merchandising while adhering to all protocols, procedures, policies and other programs and initiatives. Focus areas include leading people, creating a coaching culture, managing direct reports, ensuring superior customer service, maintaining product knowledge, organizing stock and presentation, enforcing health and safety and regulatory requirements, achieving financial targets, and fostering employee engagement. The role requires strong leadership, effective communication, budgeting and financial analysis skills, and the ability to work within store policies and category standards.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 18 months of retail store experience
- Grocery experience preferred
- High School Diploma
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Above average communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Experience reading and analyzing financial reports
- Experience developing and adhering to budgets
