Job Summary

Review and approve engineering design documentation while ensuring design configuration and interfaces remain controlled. Oversee supplier and partner technical work for fuel handling machines, hot cells, and specialty casks, identifying risks associated with design and operation. Manage a multidisciplinary design engineering team by developing staffing plans, hiring personnel, assigning technical work, and monitoring performance against schedule and budget targets. Interface with key organizations including Plant Design Engineering, Project Management, Procurement, and Nuclear Licensing to deliver safely operating systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university (Mechanical, Nuclear, Chemical, Systems, Civil or similar)
  • 10+ years experience with design and/or engineering management of system and/or component design
  • Experience with the preparation and approval of specifications, calculations, drawings/diagrams and other design documentation
  • Experience working to quality standards, especially ASME NQA-1
  • Experience designing or overseeing one or more of the following types of systems and equipment: nuclear cranes and hoists, below-the-hook lifting devices, storage and transportation casks, cask transporters, hot cell design, hot cell equipment and process design
  • Ability to manage numerous competing priorities concurrently during a given work week and work with minimal direction to solve multi-disciplinary problems
  • The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly, and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork
  • Travel required 0-10%

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior management or technical leadership experience
  • Experience within the nuclear or energy sectors
  • Experience with any of the following design codes is a plus: ASME BPVC Section III and/or Section VIII, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, ASME NOG-1, ASME NUM-1, ASME BTH-1, ASME AG-1, ANSI/AISC N690
