Job Summary
Oversee Bluegrass Ingredients' food safety programs, sanitation management, environmental monitoring, and regulatory compliance across Glasgow and Springfield manufacturing facilities. Lead plant-level initiatives on HACCP, preventive controls, allergen management, and sanitation verification while directing sanitation leadership and personnel. Maintain annual reviews of Food Safety Plans and analyze trends in audit findings and nonconformances to drive corrective actions. Support all corporate and plant-level audits, serve as a liaison with regulatory inspectors, and lead investigations into customer complaints or potential recalls. Collaborate with QA, Operations, and Engineering to address equipment design and cleaning effectiveness, ensuring all products meet SQF, USDA, FSMA, and customer-specific requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, Food Engineering, or related field
- 7-10 years of progressive food safety, quality assurance, sanitation, or regulatory experience in food manufacturing
- Experience managing sanitation programs, environmental monitoring programs, and audit preparations
- Strong knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, USDA, SQF, FSMA, FDA, allergen control, sanitation principles, and environmental monitoring
- Ability to travel between Glasgow and Springfield facilities as required
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, Food Engineering, or related field preferred
- Experience in dairy, spray drying, ingredient manufacturing, dry processing, or Ready-to-Eat food manufacturing preferred
- PCQI, HACCP, SQF Practitioner, Internal Auditor, or related food safety certifications preferred
- Excellent leadership, communication, documentation, training, and problem-solving skills
