Job Summary
Select, develop, and motivate personnel within the department while providing coaching, counseling, and performance reviews. Assist in preparing quarterly Federal Financial Reports and manage contract registration and requisition processes for federal and state funding agencies. Manage quarterly and annual billing processes for counties and the Board, perform monthly reconciliations of the Capital System to PeopleSoft, and establish internal controls to mitigate risks. Provide prompt and effective discipline or termination when necessary. This role supports the Controller's Office and other departments including Financial Operations, Financial Services, and Management & Budget within the MTA's Capital Program.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated supervisory and/or leadership abilities
- Must have knowledge of the PeopleSoft financial system or similar
- Must have strong financial reporting skills including database query tools (WebFOCUS)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with all internal levels within a given organization
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact well with external agencies
- Demonstrated ability to work in a high-profile, high-pressure environment effectively
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks appropriately
- Must have strong managerial skills to effectively direct a staff of professional and technical employees in implementing the short- and long-term goals and direction for the area of responsibility
- Demonstrated ability to complete short- and long-term projects effectively and as efficiently as possible
- Demonstrated analytical capabilities and quantitative skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or comparable applications, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of accounting or related experience
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years in a managerial and/or leadership role over people and/or processes
- Must have knowledge of IMPACT capital system
- Prior experience working in a large, multi-faceted, fast-paced organization or governmental body
- Familiarity with the MTA's policies and procedures
