Job Summary
Manage build automation tooling and pipeline development to tie software components and embedded operating systems into cohesive releases. Implement release candidacy workflows and establish the digital thread linking requirements to reproducible outputs for testing or production deployment. Lead complex workflow automation via Temporal, Bazel, and BuildStream while integrating with third-party work tracking and custom hardware testing platforms. Oversee build and packaging performance for safety-critical autonomous vehicle software. Requires 7+ years of engineering experience, 3+ years in engineering management, and expertise in AWS environments and Debian-based distributions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science or engineering equivalent
- 7+ years of relevant experience
- 3+ years of Engineering Management Experience
- Ability to define a roadmap for build infrastructure, focusing on pipelines for releasing complex multi-faceted software systems
- Prioritization of developer velocity, system reliability, and hermeticity
- Strong technical background in Build/Release Engineering
- Deep understanding of the trade-offs between different build systems (Bazel vs. others)
- Deep understanding of trade-offs between workflow engines (Temporal)
- Experience with AWS environments
- Experience with containerized software delivery lifecycles
- Familiarity with the complexities of Debian-based software distribution
- Automation required to maintain a secure supply chain
- Proven track record of hiring and developing high-performing engineers in the space
