Job Summary
Lead electrical design of Edge AI hardware for automotive-grade systems and guide a hardware engineering team from concept to production. Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, test, regulatory, manufacturing, and installation teams; develop specifications, design circuits, create prototypes, and drive validation. Manage project deliverables within budget, partner with vendors and contract manufacturers to develop electronic parts, and ensure compliance testing. Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and career growth for team members while continuously improving development processes. Possess hands-on experience with circuit design, PCB layout, design tools (Orcad, Spice, Allegro), and hardware lab equipment; work on edge AI computers and cameras intended for vehicle installation; engage with cross-functional teams to bring hardware products from concept to production. On-site in San Francisco.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent
- 10+ years of experience in related space with 4+ years of management experience leading and managing design and test engineers
- Experience building perception hardware like computers and cameras for installation in vehicles
- Experience delivering hardware products from concept to production
- Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Experience with circuit design, schematic capture, PCB layout, and system validation testing
- Hands-on with design tools (Orcad, Spice, Allegro) and hardware lab equipment (high-speed scopes, VNAs, logic analyzers)
- Experience with high/low speed interfaces (PCIe, USB, HDMI/DP, UARTs, GMSL, LVDS, MIPI, I2C, SPI, Ethernet, CAN)
- Understanding of Imaging components, cameras, image sensors, ISP, optics
- Experience with GPS, 4G/LTE, 5G, WiFi, BLE, IoT devices; RF antenna design
- Regulatory testing and compliance knowledge for Americas and EU
- On-site requirement in San Francisco (minimum 3-5 days/week)
