Job Summary
Manage a team of five engineers overseeing E/E systems design, development, and integration for GILLIG's next-generation zero-emission transit buses. Own Zuken E3 schematic and harness design from concept through release, including high/low voltage architecture, CAN bus topology, and design for manufacturability. Lead SCRUM activities, facilitate design reviews, and drive DFMEA to reduce failure modes while collaborating on customer requirement mapping and vendor management. Perform complex troubleshooting for field and prototype issues, ensuring regulatory compliance and cost-effective electrical system solutions. This on-site role at the Colorado Technical Center in Loveland, CO, supports the broader enterprise's transition to clean mobility with a standard 8:00 AM start time.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 8 years' experience within the Engineering industry
- Experience in automotive and/or heavy-duty vehicle design
- Experience working with major component suppliers, engineering service suppliers, testing suppliers and product validation engineers
- Demonstrated proven experience leading a successful team of engineers
- Significant experience in the direct design of components including Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Service (DFS), and cost-efficiency (Value Engineering)
- Significant Experience with 'hands-on' troubleshooting, product assembly, prototyping, testing, and validation activities (on site and at remote locations)
- Demonstrated ability to apply electrical design fundamentals
- Demonstrated working knowledge in electrical power distribution including AC and DC systems
- Expert knowledge of electrical load calculations and circuit protection
- Experienced with high voltage system design and necessary safety guidelines
- Experienced with low voltage harness design
- Experienced in generating harnesses and electrical schematics using Zuken E3 (or equivalent ECAD)
- Ability to lift 25 lbs
- Must be able to navigate manufacturing environment, comfortable around heavy machinery, tools, etc.
- Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment, (i.e. safety glasses, bump caps, hearing protection, etc.)
- <5% Travel required
- Standard start time: 8:00 AM (Negotiable)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with SAE/USCAR-21 (electrical crimp performance)
