Job Summary
Lead AOTA’s federal strategy across education, workforce and school-based practice issues; monitor and analyze federal legislation and regulatory activity related to IDEA, ESSA, workforce development, and school-based practice policy; represent AOTA in meetings with Congress, federal agencies, and coalitions; cultivate and maintain relationships with policymakers and national coalition partners; lead education efforts and grassroots advocacy; translate complex federal policy into clear, actionable information for members and external audiences; collaborate with internal teams to align policy initiatives with organizational goals; attend advocacy events, coalition meetings, conferences, and federal engagement activities; perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Registration as a federal lobbyist under the Lobbying Disclosure Act (LDA)
- Strong knowledge of IDEA and related federal education laws and school-based practice policy
- Experience with federal advocacy, policy development, and stakeholder engagement
- Ability to translate complex policy into actionable information for members and external audiences
- Occupational therapy background strongly preferred or related-service field experience
