Job Summary
Manage and evaluate clinical operations, programs, and resources of the Emergency Department to assure safe and appropriate care delivery. Ensure all activities are conducted in a timely, cost-effective manner while maintaining compliance with organizational policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements. Oversee the resolution of daily clinical administrative and operational issues and rotate on-call administrator duty. Participate in the annual budget process, review revenues and expenses, and complete Departmental Operating Reports monthly. Collaborate with pharmacy, ambulatory clinics, and outpatient units to ensure timely services, and assist as needed during high-volume or high-acuity periods. Co-lead the Unit-Based Team and Staffing Committee, and assume authority for hospital operations in the absence of the Director of Nursing Services and Chief Nursing Officer.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Three (3) years of recent nursing experience in a hospital setting
- Three (3) years as a charge nurse/supervisor or one (1) year of management experience
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in WA State
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Knowledge of practice management/clinic administration and operations, and patient/customer relations
- Knowledge of population health and care coordination/care management strategies and practices
- Knowledge of nursing principles and procedures; knowledge and skill in techniques of good patient care
- Proficient in the use of current technology, including Microsoft Office products
- Ability to learn and effectively use electronic medical records and other systems and equipment
- Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to identify and employ communication strategies appropriate to the audience
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and records in a timely manner
- Strong data analytics and reporting skills
- Demonstrated skill in process improvement, planning, organizing, and change management
- Knowledge of the Patient Centered Medical Home practice model
- Ability to cultivate effective partnerships and work in collaboration with providers, other health care professionals, staff, patients and community members
- Strong leadership, facilitation, delegation, and coaching skills
- Ability to work independently performing a wide variety of assignments that require the use of independent judgment, systems-thinking, problem-solving, organization, and prioritization skills
Desired Qualifications
- Emergency Department or Critical Care experience
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certification
- National certification (CEN, CCRN, CMSRN)
