Manager, Decarbonization Development

Job Summary

Lead decarbonization and energy efficiency project development across Carnival Cruise Line's fleet by identifying opportunities, conducting feasibility assessments, and preparing business cases for CAPEX approval. Manage engineering consultants, equipment vendors, and external partners while evaluating technologies to improve emissions performance and operational effectiveness. Develop technical and financial justifications including fuel savings calculations, lifecycle cost analysis, and ROI evaluations to support investment decisions. Coordinate with Technical Operations and Asset Teams to translate operational issues into future projects and validate benefits post-implementation. Provide technical leadership in energy efficiency initiatives, define requirements, and review deliverables to ensure alignment with CCL standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or Marine Engineering
  • 7+ years in a relevant role (energy management, marine operations, HVAC/refrigeration systems, energy project management, design etc.)
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time
  • Must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area
  • Must be able to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida Monday through Thursday each week
  • Must be able to work from their homes on Fridays
  • Deep working knowledge of HVAC-R, chilled water and service power systems, thermodynamics, and marine auxiliary machinery
  • Strong project management skills across the concept-to-CAPEX phase
  • Microsoft Office; advanced Excel (lookups, pivots, macros)
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting and forecasting techniques
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects to completion
  • Prior seagoing experience as Refrigeration/HVAC Engineer strongly preferred

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's Degree a Plus
  • Power BI; ability to handle large datasets; programming experience (Python, SQL) preferred
  • CAD proficiency preferred
  • Basic knowledge of marine bunkering operations, marine fuels, shipboard operations, energy efficiency, technical analysis, numerical/empirical modelling
