Manager Credit Risk Analysis

Job Summary

Manage and oversee a two-person credit team responsible for depository and CDFI members, including priority setting, performance management, and skill development. Lead quarterly credit analysis and risk rating for borrowers across a 445-bank, 103-credit union, and 9-CDFI portfolio. Perform analysis to recommend approval for new and continuing borrowers, develop internal models for credit risk assessment, and establish underwriting standards. Monitor economic trends, regulatory developments, and material changes in credit quality while reporting to regulators and senior management. Collaborate with relationship managers on risk mitigation strategies and work with IT on credit systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics or other business-related discipline
  • 5-10 years of experience in credit underwriting of financial institutions
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (written, oral, and listening)
  • Strong analytic abilities, including credit underwriting experience, the ability to manipulate large data sets, and robust modeling skills
  • At ease working within a team-based environment
  • Time management and an ability to display initiative
  • Must be self-directed with high energy level
  • MS Office products
  • Must be able to perform analysis on and recommend approval for new and/or continuing borrowers
  • Must be able to lead team through quarterly credit analysis and risk rating of borrowers
  • Must be able to develop and manage internal models for assessing credit risk and assigning risk ratings
  • Must be able to develop and implement credit underwriting standards for borrowers
  • Must be able to monitor economic trends and regulatory developments and their impact on borrowers
  • Must be able to report to regulators, senior management, and Credit Committee
  • Must be able to work with IT on credit systems and with other teams in the Bank on strategic projects
  • Must be able to provide active management and thought leadership to your immediate team to aide in their development in credit underwriting, analytic skills and leadership development
  • Must be able to surveil existing depository and CDFI members for material changes in credit quality
  • Must be able to analyze the creditworthiness of financial institutions that pose an elevated credit risk to the Bank and make appropriate recommendations
  • Must be able to maintain and develop credit models to support the analytics regime supporting the Credit risk rating process
  • Must be able to foster collaborative relationship with our Sales team to support of our financial institution members and counterparties

Desired Qualifications

  • MBA or other Master's level degree preferred
  • Tableau, VBA, R, S&P CapIQ, and Bloomberg experience is a preferred
